I am pleased to introduce you to my latest personal project. More than an animation, I wanted to craft an atmosphere and sketch out a story, to achieve a more or less finished result within my means. My goal was to focus more on the process than the result, and I am happy to say that I learned a lot on this one.

Hello,

I am pleased to introduce you to the personal project I've been working on for the last month and a half. It is very dear to my heart because it represents a personal victory for me: I've actually started and finished a project by focusing more on my progress, rather than on all the little shortcomings. This mini-short film reconnected me with my creativity and above all, reconnected me with the core reason that pushed me to start animation : telling stories in pictures. More than an animation, I wanted to craft an atmosphere and sketch out a story, to achieve a more or less finished result within my means.

And I had so much fun making it. I animated on Maya, got to know Blender better, tried to find quick and "artist friendly" techniques to create a light set easily, I got interested in lighting, rendering, compositing, I edited the soundtrack and had fun recording some sound effects myself. I had to compromise on my expectations, struggled with unfamiliar problems on an unfamiliar interface, and I didn't give up despite the evidence that was becoming increasingly clear: no, it won't be as successful as I'd imagined.

I can now say that I made of an idea a reality while learning a ton, enjoying the journey, and most of all, learning from all my mistakes.

And now I've decided it's over. On to the next !

All my support to my fellow perfectionists out there, it really is liberating to focus on the process rather than the result.

I'm still looking for a job as a 3D animator, so don't hesitate to contact me by email at [email protected] if my skills might suit your needs. :)
