It had been a few years since I had seen this Rebelway tutorial about One Punch Man's moon jump, and I had been wanting to try it out and see what would come of it for quite some time!
Compared to the version they proposed, I aimed to work on a more realistic and less "cartoonish" scale without diminishing the incredible strength of the character, prioritizing strong smoke propagation in the shockwave but reducing it as it extends into space. Nonetheless, it's worth acknowledging that in anime, there are typically fewer concerns about the physics of such effects smiley
Additionally, I incorporated additional pyro simulations rather than just using volumes to achieve more detail, particularly for the flight path.
The technique of simulating moon fractures without simulation in Dopnet was very interesting to learn, surely I'll surely apply in other setups to achieve diverse results.
On YouTube, you can find the complete tutorial along with the hip file to study the setup. I'm sure I also found the guy who created their setup here on ArtStation. Unfortunately, I don't remember the name or nickname right now.
