My final year animation based off of the Russian fairytale of Baba Yaga. The animation was hand drawn at 12fps in Animate and then painted in photoshop, effects added and created in After Effects with the final animation being put together in Premiere Pro.

Initially I was going to go down the colour route, but eventually switched to most being in black and white besides the main character, to add to the horror vibe.

The audio was taken from Epidemic sound.

Heavily inspired by Studio Ghibli, the movement and style was referenced from films like spirited away. The first final was created in Animate and then additional puppet rigs were added within After Effects to create the final one in black and white.

The above poster was the final illustration based off the below image I created. The bottom one was a quick sketch for how I think I wanted the character to look using one of my photos i'd taken in my local woods and given a vintage look. I then changed the idea to go with a russian doll appearance to the main character and a movie poster style for the final image. This was presented as a giant poster that you could scan with the app and it showed you the animation.

The above animation is the original variant I created, inspired by coraline for the story, I've ended up using newer versions of parts of the animation within the Baba Yaga story.

Sketchbook ideas for designing the witch, the house as well as having a rhyme that may be said within the animation. It wasn't used in the end.
