Crafting the Axes: From Initial Modeling in Maya to Sculpting in ZBrush

Creating axes for my project was a meticulous yet rewarding process that involved several stages of modeling and sculpting. Here's how I approached it:

Initial Modeling in Maya:

Base Mesh Creation: Using Maya, I blocked out the basic shape of the axes. I focused on creating clean, simple geometry that would serve as a solid foundation for further detailing.

Refining the Shape: I refined the base mesh, adding more polygons to ensure smooth transitions and accurate proportions. Key details, such as the blade edge and handle contours, were modeled at this stage.

Sculpting in ZBrush:

Importing the Base Mesh: With the initial modeling complete, I imported the base mesh into ZBrush for detailed sculpting.

Adding Details: In ZBrush, I used various brushes to sculpt fine details on the axes. This included creating sharp edges on the blade, adding wood grain texture to the handle, and engraving intricate designs.

The combination of Maya's precise modeling tools and ZBrush's powerful sculpting capabilities allowed me to create detailed and visually striking axes. This process not only honed my skills but also resulted in a set of weapons that I'm proud to showcase in my portfolio.
