Red Still Life
This is my first project at SkyUp Academy. I had to complete every step of the scene, including modeling, texturing, shading, and lighting. The project required me to follow a logical sequence of steps to achieve the desired outcome.
Presentation
This is my first photorealistic still life project with the guidance of Skyup Academy. The project helped me improve my skills in organic modeling, texturing, shading, and lighting. I used tools such as Substance 3D Painter, Autodesk Maya, Zbrush and Photoshop to enhance my workflow.
Reference
This is the reference assigned to me. I found a photograph on Pinterest that my supervisors provided. Unfortunately, I was unable to trace the original photographer for more information or additional photos.
Before starting the modelling process, I searched for references of all the objects in my scene. I analysed them thoroughly to simplify my work later on.
Modeling
I began by creating a basic model of the entire scene, then proceeded to refine each element using Zbrush and Maya.
Checker
After completing the modelling, I focused on UV and defining a proper tessellation unit as requested by the supervisors.
Texture Maps
After UV, I switched to Substance Painter. I focused mainly on the base colour map and the roughness map.
Lighting
Eventually I finished with the lighting of the scene, relying on the reflections of the glass and the grapes and then replicating the light peaks and shadows as best I could
Post-production
To make the final image look its best, I completed the process with colour correction and retouching.
I am really proud of my first professional work, I hope you can appreciate it too and give me advice.
