A sky full of clouds
cuple of days of try and error method to descover the new "cloud nodes" in Houdini 20. Started as a personal curiosity ('cause i like volumetrics) and ended in a pic that iìm proud of
The final result from my render and edit:
some making of: (later on i will update this section with a video of the making of)
1-took a reference of i cloudy sky i liked from pinterest :
2-dividing visually the clouds in the pic in big portions in base of the space and the volume they occupy in the frame:
3- using the new cloud nodes in Houdini 20 to make a cloud sistem that could be the more realistic as possible in terms of volume and density (the "houdini hive" video about the new houdini tools helped me a lot in making this and understanding the overall uses of the nodes)
4- Making a few clusters of clouds and trying the render settings before doing it on a larger scale: (first try)
5- Figuring out what was wrong in render settings and fixing it and twicking some the material shader for the clouds
6- layouting all the clouds respecting the reference
8-more renders, more trying, more twicking settings/lights/soft shadowing/volumes/density/shader
9-Final result (raw) after last render:
10- Editing immage in Davinci Resolve(color correction, noise reduction, bluring the parts blured in the ref to respect it more and give the eye some rest places)
11-The final result:
