campaign design 2022 - part 3 - All Wound Up!

This post details the creatures and overview of my original campaign design project from 2022, All Wound Up!

All Wound Up! is my campaign pitch for a 2D platformer game, about a little wooden wind up doll called Amanita with a broken mechanical heart that needs repairs. Amanita has journeyed on a quest away from home to find someone who can fix their heart, with their older sister Lilium in tow, who has a broken upper torso. Amanita loves to dance, but slows down after a while due to their broken heart being connected to their wind up key. They have to wind themself up at tiny little wind up keys scattered around the toy world, hence why it's called All Wound Up. Along their journey, the siblings will meet the inventive and quirky Griffith the Griffin doll, and Ripper the Dragon plush, and it seems they might be broken enough to be a part of this broken family.

CREATURE DESCRIPTIONS

lightbulb bug - friendly, it is usually sleepy and bumbles around looking for tree branches with bulb screws to screw into and perch. it's life force is constantly glowing and humming in their bulb.

LED-fly - friendly, zips around and tends to follow other toys, they are young and stick together by perching in long lines on trees. they twinkle and flash gently like stars.

spool spider - docile unless provoked, blind and skittish, so they hide in old sewing tins scattered around the valley. they also hang from their spool thread and swing around to either escape or defend themselves.

yarn ball - docile, they huddle together in groups and produce loads of thread constantly for cushioning if their parent rolls them out of their nest if it's under attack.

wind up frog trap - neutral, lazy, staying in one spot, land or water, for months. however, if any prey wanders into their wide open mouth, they will immediately crush them to prevent their shiny metal sac from being stolen.

TAD - docile, Tadpole Affiliated Drones, they are still upgrading their parts and will spend of their childhood in these translucent plastic bubbles. they float in ponds and will seldom leave the water.

song box bird - friendly unless provoked, they double as singing birds and walkie talkies of sorts. they tend to be bolted to trees branches as they are too heavy to fly. they sound really loud alarms when spotting danger.

screech - docile, tends to do nothing but sleep, they can only repeat short words or phrases in their young age. when in distress, they let off short, high pitched beeps to alert their mother.

needle mosquito - aggressive, they are made of mostly trash that's conglomerated into one creature, held together by it's life force, thread and a single needle. it attacks anything for scrap parts, especially loose threads.

tack - aggressive, they are developing their motor skills so they tend to zip and zoom wildly around, and often get stuck in walls and the ground trying to attack prey.

carry-on bee - aggressive, not native to the valleys, and has very mysterious intentions. all it seems to know is to attack and to gather strange resources in its backpack, which seems to be covered in strange stains...

This is part 3 of the campaign, which includes the following:

The creatures, and all of their thumbnails and processes.
