League Fan Champ - Molly, the Bandle Painter

Character design project done for college assignment in which I designed my own champion for League of Legends- Molly, the Yordle Artist! Living a shut-in life, growing stale in her work and finding no joy in stagnation- she flew the coop of Bandle City and set off on a journey of both self-discovery and her art!

For this project I set out to create a design library and a character - the library was aimed at making a painter and the character resulted in a Yordle for the MOBA League of Legends, her name being Molly!

Now on the main design result, I love how it turned out. She's carrying this large paint brush around in her arms, clutching it and ready to swing it around with reckless abandon at first glance given the size difference between her and the brush- but fear should set in when an artist works with a tool they are familiar with- because she is about to paint mayhem and havoc on the canvas that is the rift.

When designing the character, I wanted her to visually look cheerful and messy- so wild hair and messy paint splatters here and there in the concept sketches was fun to throw around. I also laughed to myself when drawing the hat on her, because from the top down view, it looked like a bearded creature with a big nose and a cigar to me.

On the matter of design- I included what I believe would be her moveset for the game. A quick run down for those interested, if you're not really savvy, feel free to skip ahead:

Her Passive, " Color Theory "  - Each minion kill = stack towards the current paint color in selection. 3 different stacks that build up bonus AP/AD to the specific skill.

Her Q, " Paint Swap! " - You swap the paint color. Red, Blue and Yellow. Red is for Burn damage, Yellow is for Objects and Blue is for Slow.

Her W, " One Dab! " - You slam down on a spot to deal damage. It leaves a puddle in the area that either deals burn, slow or makes a rock appear that blocks that specific area to block it off.

Her E, " A Stroke of Color! " - You make a big line, same as the W. Wall of fire, Wall of water or a stone wall.

Her R, " Magnum Opus! " - Four stone walls appear and the center is the vortex where the champ is. The closer to the champ, the more damage you take. You are stunned for the first few seconds, being tossed around inside and slowed down. Burned as well.

The idea in design is that she's supposed to allow for you to have the creativity to switch things up on the fly in mid combat if you have to or to change the flow of a fight.

The design library of objects, items and clothes that she might wear came together quite nicely- and it reflects pretty well in the final design I'd like to think.
