Weekly Drill: Smartwatch (Marv Raze)
This project was for the "Weekly Drills 092 - #Smartwatch". The essence of this challenge was trying to create a spot-on smartwatch, that could be mistaken for the real thing. Did I succeed?
Intro
When I read the description of this week's weekly drill, I couldn't resist the urge to join in. Despite my busy schedule, I have made a conscious effort to invest my time in this project.

The first thing I did was search for smartwatch images on Google. One particular image captured my attention, and I decided to go witht it. The smartwatch in question is the "Marv Raze" from the Indian company beatXP.
My Software of choice was Blender, aswell as Substance Painter. In the end I combined the images in Photoshop.
During the modelling phase, it became clear that I needed additional reference images, including views of elements that were not visible in the promotional images. Therefore, I searched for various unboxing videos on YouTube to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the object. With this in mind I went ahead and modeled piece by piece.
In the texturing phase, I opted for a clean look for the clock. Therefore, I avoided layers of dirt and instead introduced subtle variations of roughness along with a minimal adjustment of the normal map. On the picture below you can see two materials as an example. A closer look might be necessary ;)
The backgrounds of the watches were downloaded from a website called buddywatch.
