Robot Activation
A project I made during my second year at Side Academy (VR). Thanks to this, I was awarded 2 Golden dragons at the Venice Film Festival.
For this project I wanted to focus on honing my hardsurface skills so I based the main model I made for this on a concept design by Vitaly Bulgarov.
Model done in Maya, textures Substance Painter and Vray materials, rendered in Vray and compositing in NukeX.
To start off, I began blocking out the general volumes and proportions based on reference:
I then moved on to block out in more detail the shapes and planes that made up the main body of the Robot:
The next stage was editing the topology so I could then continue with a SubD workflow, adding thickness and later subdividing to add more details where necessary. Some WIP examples:
