I began this project by creating the crystal ball and its pedestal in Autodesk Maya, then proceeded to texture the pedestal in Adobe Substance Painter.
I imported everything into Houdini and started building the simulation.
Firstly, I generated the source for the particle simulation and its initial velocity. Then, I created and animated two simple circles which I used as force fields that attract the particles.
Than, I worked into DOP level to craft an interesting simulation. This involved particle generation and setting up all necessary forces.
To conclude, I employed Python scripting to compose this intriguing particle shading, where the particles change color as they move away from the center. This project proved highly valuable in acquiring knowledge of Houdini's Python scripting and its applications.
