Ancient chinese sword

Small summer school rendering project. 

Before starting our second year, we were tasked to model and texture any weapon we wanted.

I decided to go for a chinese saber with dragon motives. 

The model itself stays close to the image reference that gave me the idea. But the motifs were a bit too complex to reproduce and I could not take them and translate them into textures, so I decided to reproduce them with a more stylized look. 

The drawn textures were mainly done for the dragon motives which can be found on all the guard and handle. They were mixed with procedural textures made within renderman to give the weapon a desired realistic look.
