LVL1 Demo progress :

made a layout of the plan for the games demo. we did start adding art assets but unfortunately we were not able to complete the demo as quickly as we would have liked. below is the progress of the whole level, the forest, the boss foreshadowing and the main chamber with a bell (featuring a shock wave effect when players soot at it with an arrow)

Art style update: 

As the protagonist of the game has the ability to jump between realities we plan to have different art styles for each reality, whilst we haven't narrowed down as to what extent the art styles will vary we do plan to keep a compatibly  consistent look for the protagonist (ideally any other art styles will be shaped in part by the protagonists art style, however this would limit our use of PBR materials, thus needing us to make all of our materials from scratch).  the protagonists art style consists of base colors and a normal map used to create a painterly effect. 

using a hand painted normal map allows us to receive lighting that fits into a painterly brush stroke effect. Using the normal map means that the highlight and shadows are formed to the brush strokes of the normal map. (Editors note 23/8/2023: this only works using world space normals as such it wont be applicable for the character, so a new method will have to be devised for how best to give her a stylized look)

Quiver - Project Overview

quiver is a 2.5D platformer that uses archery mechanics.

Level 1 : Crystal Caves

Our idea for the theme of the first level is a cave filled with bug like creatures formed from crystals and rock. Starting in a forest setting players will move through the forest as the trees and foliage slowly get more dominated by rocks and crystal. Eventually players will find and enter a cave filled with the aforementioned bug like rock creatures.
