This project served as a study of scales and scale patterns, how they flow with the skin and how they differ from one part of the body to the next. It was also a good exercise to develop more patience since all the scales are hand sculpted or made by hand made brushes.

Texturing was also a big learning experience since it was my first time using Mari for complete texturing of a creature. I like to use Mari in these kind of projects since it has a lot of advantages when compared to Substance Painter, the big one being a node graph. Having the ability to add so much variation and combine that amount of detail with that performance is just superb when it comes to texturing realistic animals and creatures.
