This is a month and a half project made during my masters degree in organic modelling in Lightbox Academy! A well optimized topology and realistic model perfect for in-game content

Darth Malgus, Game-ready character

This project was made during my masters degree studies in organic modelling in Lightbox Academy!. This is a game-ready character with 5 (4K) texture sets for the character and 1 (2K) texture set for the lightsaber.
The model is 35k tris without the robes and 42k tris with it. I challenged myself to stay around 50k and I made it!. I decided to subdivide the cape a couple of times because I was a few triangles short of 50k. I did this also to get more of the cape's details and wrinkles in the baking process.

Some of the renders you are going to see below are from Unreal Engine 5!. I rigged and posed Malgus this way because I though it would be cool for him to have some sith lightning going through his hands in the engine! These were made with the Niagara FX system inside Unreal.

The character and armor sculpting was made entirely in Zbrush, the cape was simulated in Marvelous Designer, the lightsaber and retopology were made in Maya, texures in Adobe Substance 3D Painter, the lightning was made with Unreal Engine 5 Niagara system and renders were made in both Marmoset Toolbag 4 and Unreal Engine 5.

I love this character, his personality and the way he looks. I've also learned so much with this project: making armor entirely in Zbrush with a new workflow I found and  videogame topology and optimization, which was really fun to do!

I hope you like it as much as I do, thanks for reading!
