Lighting interiors

This project involves designing four different interior lighting schemes in Unreal Engine 5 using Lumen, as well as setting up cameras to capture the final renders. The goal is to ensure that each lighting design carries a specific meaning and concept, influencing the choice of using one light over another.

Neutral based on a color palette

These images are based on a color palette derived from an image, which I also share here. The chosen palette exhibits a significant contrast between vibrant yellows and greens, as well as subtle greyish tones. To accentuate this contrast between colors and create a compelling interplay of light and shadow, I attempted to illuminate the scene with a powerful sunlight source. This approach aims to highlight the chosen colors and further enhance the desired visual impact.

Next, there were the neutral day and night proposals. For the daytime scheme, I aimed to capture a moment in the morning when it doesn't feel too early, suggesting that residents have already started their day. Perhaps there were pleasant moments that got interrupted by the rush of daily routines. Similarly, I wanted to convey a sense of tranquility with the nighttime scheme—those quiet moments at home, cozy on the sofa with a blanket, reading in bed, or having the dinner dishes prepared and ready.

Volumetric lights

Lastly, there is the volumetric lights scheme. Taking inspiration from a reference, I aimed to delineate distinct areas within the space using different tones. The purpleish light emanates from both outside and another room, including the kitchen. Meanwhile, the blueish light is concentrated in the living room area, which I intended to highlight as the focal point where the action could unfold.
