The Bone Warrior

This is the first character I've created. I've been doing CG for a while, but I want to change professions due to burnout.

At the beginning of this project, I just wanted to make a simple hammer. A big, stone hammer. But I couldn't stop myself. I started thinking about other stylistically similar weapons and armor. And then I realized there was no need to be afraid and decided to create a character.

And in the end, we have this old man... Give him a warm welcome, though he might be a bit hard of hearing)

I immediately knew this character would have four hands. The hammer and shield are really heavy, you know. But I struggled for a while to decide who this character would resemble. In the end, I just started sculpting without overthinking it, until forms started to emerge that I liked.

After finalizing the overall design, I spent a lot of time on the anatomy. I lacked knowledge on how to best and more interestingly accommodate the additional arms. I wanted this character to be able to wield truly heavy weapons. But the longest and most exciting part of the process was when I learned how to create different surfaces and materials in ZBrush. It's like magic. A simple sketch comes to life.
