My name is Connor Mart, I am currently studying my 3rd year at Flinders University/CDW Studios. I am focused on 3D modelling. This showcase is my still life i produced last year 1 full scene and a breakdown of the individual assets.

Still Life Scene

This scene was created for a CDW Studios class in the second half of 2022.

Programs used: Autodesk Maya, Arnold Renderer, Substance Painter, Zbrush & Adobe Photoshop.

Reference & Planning

Gathered reference and planned how I want the scene to look. I new I wanted to do something different compared to my peers work, so I decided to do a bird skull instead of a human skull for the project.

Assets

Skull

The skull was created in Zbrush. doing the bird skull was quite difficult for me to do for I had to make sure each edge of the skull was kept thin, and that the beak lined up correctly with the upper part when doing the mouth.

Apple

The apple was quite simple to model, it was mainly getting the texture of the apple right for how the much roughness and colour differs between each individual apple.

Book

Had fun creating the book with how I did the pages of it by created a Hight map with multiple lines running across it just indented and warping it along the top and bottom of the book inwards to make it look like the pages are stuck together.

Hour Glass

the glass texture I found the most difficult with the hour glass and not the displacement shader I put on the sand mesh inside the the glass surprisingly and created a wood grain texture that ran along the exterior parts to try and give it that vintage appeal.

Stein

Not much I can say about the stein for it was a cylinder mesh that I scaled into a cone and hollowed out the middle of it and appending a handle onto it with mainly using a metallic texture with indents across the mid section to give it a nice pattern.

Pocket Watch

and interesting design I went with and was difficult keeping the shape of it cause I had to always be caution on on the depth of the watch to make sure that if there was gears within the main body of the watch could all fit in there.

Scene Breakdown

following is the progress of the scene as it was created
