I had a lot of fun making this 3D Golden Beetle and I've learned a lot !
I started to model the basic shape of the beetle in Maya with some references then export the model in Mudbox to sculpt the tiny details such as the muscles and the patterns on the shells. I also painted the diffuse color with the help of Photoshop for some adjusments. The project was mostly made with procedural shaders made in Renderman. All aspects by me.
