In my final semester of university, we were fortunate to created our own mini collection. I created the collection of 'Fleurtopia'. I used manual techniques as well as digital software such as CLO3d to create this collection.

The creation of this concept was developed from the current situations happening all around the world. As we are consistently uncertain about things and trying to go back to our busy lives, we forget the joys we once had in childhood. This collection is called Fleurtopia, an assimilation of the French lexeme ‘fleur’ for flower and the lexeme ‘utopia’.

Sir Thomas More, a well-known figure in history writes about a world in which everything and everyone is perfect and equal. “A place of felicity” of intense happiness unlike what is the world is. Interpreted his book as imagining things and creating this fantasied world in which all our worries are left behind Thus, this collection will be based on the connection between what a utopic society is or could be. Defined as a place or state of imagination in which everything is perfect.

So, I decided to think what type of world is perfect. This was difficult as the real world is constantly in turmoil. The only place that I believe was perfect was a fantasized world that is so easily imagined upon as a child of lands with fairies and beautiful fauna where there is peace and love. To myself they are considered a utopic world that does not part of reality. I researched fairies, after finding painting of them I noticed that they always portrayed their clothing as draped, aesthetically pleasing and flowy so that was a main inspiration for me to use flowy materials and silhouettes. Then I delved into the fauna and flower and through this exploration developed a colour palette and print ideas. Further wanted to find embroidered fabric or create them to create that aspect of preciousness in which reflect the fairies one with nature and kindness.

The use of CLO3d helped me experiment techniques with replication of fabric and trims using displacement and texture maps, fit using fit maps and rendering. It was very challenging as this was a new software I was learning.

After utilising and designing on CLO3d ,  I printed out the patterns and I created my physical collection.
