Update - 24 Feb 2023

Tonight I did a 4K render after finishing the legs and arms in substance painter. 

I learnt more about controlling the bump and displacement as initially the renders were overcooked with bump detail. 

I still have some issues around the upper thighs were some details of another udim coordinance are appearing, so I will re-export the waist armor and plug it back into to see if I still get that issue. 

I keep looking at the Cape and the neco area now, would love the Cape to feel more dynamic and like cloth, and the cloth wrap coming in near her neck and chest to be more realistic. 

I also need to paint a golden phoenix onto her chest!

Update - 22 Feb 2023

Was able to make the lips a bit shinier and I worked out how to properly connect the height map in the displacement nodes of the material editor in Maya. 

Would like to reduce the height intensity of the eyelid folds, perhaps just adjusting the topology there instead so that it looks a bit less messy. 

I'd also like to adjust the cut modifier on the strands of xgen hair at the front, making the end points a bit more varied as it all sort of ends at a similar length there and looks unnatural. 

Focusing on the textures for the moment but once complete I'll return to Xgen for the rest of the hair.

The renderer in Substance Painter is really nice! I'd also like to give Marmoset Toolbag a go as well. 

Have textured the legs now, however I still need to add a vine decal going down the centre of the shin guard, which I have been doing on the torso and waist areas using a warp projection of an alpha I created in Photoshop. 

I played around with some glare settings in the render which resulted in some nice bright points where the sun hits the armor. 


Update - 21 Feb 2023

Textured the armor for the hands and right arm in Substance, then tried out the renderer in that application. 

Will save out a smart material and use it for the other arm with a few variances then get the legs done.
