After two years of drawing, I've finally enrolled in my first digital painting course: DC1 with Mo Kim, courtesy of Brainstorm School. It's also my first time using Photoshop, so the learning curve should be nice and steep...

I decided to finish this weeks assignment by punishing myself with some Frank Frazetta! I love how it turned out, but I'd say learning anatomy beforehand might have been helpful...

My first week of real digital painting - we've been assigned value-focused master studies. For this copy I've chosen a portrait by Richard Schmid. I love a painterly style, and Schmid's thick brushstrokes really got my attention. I'm still getting used to Photoshop's brushes, so this took a lot longer than it might look!
