Vain, the Ornate Blade.

Here is the ornate blade, Vain. This was an exploratory project for me on capturing refracted light in the most accurate way possible. This project was a lot of fun, and I spent most of it rendering in grayscale the textures within the crystal. I hope you like it.

for the light refractions on the wall around the blade, I tried to capture patterns of smoke from cigarettes, as it had similar properties to the way light additively reflects onto surfaces (similar to how shadows can overlap eachother and create an umbra/penumbra)
