Lil' Tate

This was meant to be just a silly dumb sculpt for my friends. But it turned into a pretty great learning experience for me, in regard to the importance of redoing your work and really analyzing it and trying to find the flaws and improve on it.

Sometimes you just gotta make dumb stuff. 😂

Me and my friends have an inside joke about this potato I made them for their wedding. He  is rotting away in their flower pot, so what a better way to remember our Lil' Tate by then making him in 3D to last forever.

This was my first version of him. I did some sculpting and vertex painted him. HOWEVER, it turned out that I didn't add enough vertices to his mesh, so when it came time to draw his face it came out very pixelated. When I went to remesh my model, it completely deleted all the vertex painting I had done. Crap. I had to paint him all over again.

However, I'm very happy that this mess up happened. I went back and added more texture and divots to his model and thought about how I could better improve the paint job on him.

He's not perfect, but so much better compared to the first version I did. I thought this would be just a silly, quick sculpt - but it turned into another great learning experience for me.
