The Dock

This is a project I did for my 3D rendering course

It's the first time I've worked with both Maya and Unreal. I only made the house meshes, so the walls, doors, roofs and windows, everything else was provided by the university. This includes all the materials and the meshes that are not part of the houses. Foliage, props etc.

First, I made a scene in daylight to get the houses and all my props in place. When I had placed everything where I wanted it, I started playing with the lighting. 

Once I was happy with where everything was placed I started changing the lighting to a night scene.

I also added some particle effects to the night scene, like a torch fire, a candle light for the lanterns, some very simple moths that fly around the lanterns and finally some mist that creeps over the dock and up on the beach.
