Establishing rendering approach

For the idea I am choosing to go with, I thought it would be a good opportunity to practice my painting ability and go for a more 'real' yet stylized rendering for my civilization. 

I want them to feel as if this concept could go either in a game or fit a live action film. 

Exploring style and theme

Below is a series of sketches I did while exploring how I wanted my empire of elves to look and establishing a time period that is somewhat relatable to the audience.

I chose to mix 1950's fashion with a hint of WW2 German wear. I found it to be an interesting mix.

I am going to need to dive in further to some find some nice elements that make the world more 'elven'.
