Round of applause for our sponsors

I've always drawn and loved art, but I realized I wanted to work in the creative field when I was a young kid. When I first saw Miles Morales as Spider-Man in his debut comic, I was inspired because he was mixed like me and I felt that I could see myself in his character. From that moment on I knew I had to inspire people, and make sure everyone else felt included no matter there culture, race, sexuality, religion, gender, or whatever else makes them unique.

I have been always a photography enthusiast, back when I was studying film in Colombia, where I am from, I wanted to become a Director of Photography but later on my career here in Canada. After understanding how 3D animation is done I wanted to pursue a career in 3D lighting, so I dived in to the world of 3D art and fell in love with it

Years ago I did photography, then writing, neither of which had a great career path, then I found video editing last year, now animation. I want a career that is creative, keeps me interested and has actual income potential and lifespan.

I have always been fascinated by art in general. When I first watched movies like The Incredibles, Ratatouille, and Big Hero Six, I knew that pursuing a career in this field is what I want to do.

It started when I was watching youtube and I came across these animated short films that were made by single people, they were actually done in the video-game universe and they would create entire films using Maya, Unreal Engine, Houdini, and I was really impressed with the power of knowledge that one person could do. I started off wanting to do those same things, but I realized being a generalist was a LOT harder than it looked, so I became a lighting artist because I love telling stories

I've known I wanted to work in Animated Film since I was 16. The road to get there, however, has not been quick or easy, and here I am, still walking.

After I saw Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest

I was a senior in college studying Computer Engineering. Outside of school I always did art - hobbies and being a casual art instructor. When I discovered the Pixar Pup program, I was so astonished at why it described such technical requirements yet with so many creative and artful skills. That was when I discovered CG and what that niche world really consisted of. After that, I self studied CG and was lucky enough to be a part of great studios. But yet, I am still looking to grow!

Near the end of highschool, I realized the computer science courses I was getting into weren't for me. I've always had an interest in 3D art, so when I had a chance to be a part of the Academy of Animated Art Community, I was hooked.

I've always been fascinated by storytelling as a way to nourish connections between people, no matter our differences. Fiction and poetry were my mediums of choice, until I took a few art classes in college to satisfy my curiosity. I was instantly hooked by all the ways one can tell a story. After writing my undergrad thesis about 3D rendering, I realized that I could pursue something both technical and creative for a career- that it didn't have to be one or the other.

I just started back into the creative industry in 2020!
