During my first year of studying electrical engineering I realised how there’s also possibilities to study something that combines technical skills with creativity. I dropped out and applied for the Netherlands Film Academy where I kept falling more and more in love with VFX and the way I could express myself with it.

When I was 8 years old I wanted to become a filmmaker. Later this changed in to wanting to create VFX and Immersive Media.

I discovered film making in my first year of high school and slowly but surely focused more on visual effects.

I got interested in animation and experimenting with animation techniques when I started my teenage years and slowly began to dig deeper into the actual techniques of the industry. When I needed to start thinking about my professional future, when I was about sixteen years old, I realised this might actually be something I would enjoy doing all the time.

My fascination with visual effects began around the start of high school. I quickly realized that i didn't enjoy anything as much as i did working on visual effects projects.

Hi! I am Juriaan, a highly motivated student at the Amsterdam Filmacademy in the Netherlands, currently in my 4th year VFX. From early on I have been fascinated by the magic of Film and visual Aesthetics. Everyday I learn so much new stuff that I would like to share with other people.

During my Bachelor's in Product Design I discovered a fond interest for visual effects in film. In 2014 I registered for The Netherlands Film Academy and was accepted to their visual effects bachelor in which I developed myself as a VFX Supervisor & Producer. I am currently working on the 3D feature film Ainbo (2020, Rihcard Claus & José Zelada) as the VFX Production Coordinator. Besides that, I engage in my other passions, which are painting, acting and photography.

When my dad brought home Empire Strikes Back and I watched magic unfold before my eyes I was starstruck. From that point on I was obsessed with Star Wars and its effects. Later on, when I realized these effects were actually made by VFX Artists, I knew what path I was going to follow.

When I was just finishing Elementary School. At that point I started dreaming of going to a film academy and making movies. That thought got me through high school, and I was absolutely thrilled when I got the phone call that I got accepted on my first try.
