Round of applause for our sponsors

I've always had a love for film but didn't realise I could go into this industry until 2019 when I visited a vfx studio. This is when I realised that the skills I had acquired in my bachelors degree of Computational Design could be partially transferred over and I am eager to learn new techniques and programs that are required to enter into creative media and entertainment industry.

I pretty much realised this when I was very young. I was playing around with a camera taking stills of a toy in different positions. After rapidly looking through those photos, they started to look like an animation so I tried putting the toy through some positions that flowed from one to the next. That was my first stop motion animation. Since then I have moved on to work in Photography as well as my YouTube Channel, whilst developing my skills in 3D at the Animal Logic Acadamy.

Since primary school I have always loved and been passionate about drawing characters and watching animated shows and films. I knew this was the industry my talents matched. I had been working for almost a decade as a Graphic Artist until I felt ready to make a change to 3D/CG Art and animation.

After discovering that I consistently preferred a visual and creative outlet to pursue, it was growing up with the Harry Potter books and films that inspired me to work as a 3D and Production Generalist.

When i was a kid, I love watch animation and play videos games. I thought it is cool to design my own characters and concept art.

When I realized I spent more time in 3D applications than playing games

The world is a fascinating place. Learning to draw it has been a passion of mine for a long time. Only in the last 3 or 4 years did I start believing I could turn that passion into a career.

I first realised that I would like to work in the creative media and entertainment industry at the start of last year, when I realised that I wanted to pursue a career that was more creative in nature

I first realised my passion for 3D film making when I was around 16 years old. Before then, I had been making short fun films with my friends, and creating stop motion videos at home. It wasn't until I began studying at TAFE, that I recognised my love for VFX.

In late highschool I became really interested in animated films, such as Disney. I had been a gamer for years but from that point I started looking into art as a career and started studying to be a concept artist/Illustrator.

Creativity always gave me a strong sense of purpose and self-worth, even as a child. This led to working in media design at VPB, Framestore, DMC and now the Animal Logic Academy.

I learnt about this industry in 2011, this happened whilst i was choosing which course/ skills i wanted to specialize in Polytechnic. I realized that i wanted to be in the VFX industry and have never regretted since.

While studying graphic design I began learning to draw and that developed into an interest in 3D modelling.

Last year as a career change

When working as a Graphic designer, a professional painter + illustrator as well as doing professional music work it dawned on me that i combined all these skills into a career in the entertainment industry.

I have always been attracted to the entertainment industry, primarily through my interest in interactive media and video games. Since leaving school, I have been pushing towards a career in the industry, establishing a strong and flexible foundation in technical and creative areas, with a focus on programming.

As an artist at heart, I have always been seeking opportunities to express myself. About two years ago I have started to work on my side video game project. Having no clue about making video games and no CG skills, within a short period of time, I was able to build a visually compelling 2.5D arcade game gaining various CG skills which granted me a scholarship at Animal Logic Academy, Masters of Animation and Visualisation course.

It was about somewhere in year 10 that I found out that modeling was super fun. My first was blender and I made the worst little animations but I found a lot of fun making them. I wanted to model game and film objects as well as FX. The FX was later but it's just as fun seeing the end result.

Watched alot of movies, wanted to make be apart of the process.
