Uncover Hidden Talent: Hire the World’s Top New Digital Artists
I don't think I have one specific point of realising I wanted to be an animator. Maybe a combination of watching the behind the scenes of old, hand animated Disney movies, seeing people like Alex Hirsch, Rebecca Sugar, Noelle Stevenson, and others talk about creating stories and TV shows that I loved.
I had never been a huge fan of the art industry, drawing and painting was never my strong point so I really struggled through high school art courses until I found 3D modelling. Starting my journey in Blender, I played around in the software a lot, creating many lack-luster models before I really delved into the community, mainly through Youtube. After a while of playing I really found my comfort zone in using Maya and more recently Zbrush. This all drove me to create the art that I do today.
When I was young I was at my parents wedding and I just wouldn't leave the videographer alone. Years later I did a internship with a company named Moments Productions, they were originally based in Wellington then they moved to Lower Hutt where most of their clients seemed to be based. After around 1.5 years later I parted ways and went to Yoobee Colleges and completed a Diploma in Film and Content Creation in 2021, now I'm going for a Diploma in Film and TV Production at the same university.
I think I wanted to start making stories within the gaming and animation industry at the age of 21. At the age of 27, I decided to start my Art journey and work towards my goal of making my own video games, Mainly story-driven RPGs, and learning how to animate. Games and animation have been such a huge part of my life and I felt I wanted to share these experiences with other people around the world and explore this medium in storytelling.
I've been randomly messing around with programs like Source Film Maker for a couple of years and did a little bit of pixel art animation and coding for a game in High School but I never really tried to do very much with them. I stopped doing anything to do with them for a while until I started to get back into video editing and started trying my hand at drawing things, I decided that I should try my hand at actually learning how the programs work and have been really enjoying the journey so far.
