Round of applause for our sponsors

Ever since I was little I have always been extremely creative. I've always wanted to tell stories, in whatever shape or form.

I don't remember, I've been interested in game development for as long as I remember

I've been busy with creative work since I was a young child. In highschool I realized I wanted to give it a try and work in the creative industry. I started out with an animation study at Deltion in Zwolle until I realized I found the interaction between characters and people more interesting. I eventually went to HKU to fullfill this dream of becoming a character/creature designer.

When I realized that games can be os much more than just entertainment media.

Ever since I was 10 years old I had an passion for creating games, especially levels. I used to play a webbrowser game where you could create your own levels and add mechanics to it, and other players could play your levels when you were finished. When I was done with high school, I started to look around for studies that I could do and I stumbled on a Game Art studie in the Netherlands Utrecht. I instantelijk knew that this was what I wanted to do with my live.

I did not start my game development education because I wanted to have a job in the industry, but because I enjoyed making games. During my education I discovered that working in the industry was a real option and I could achieve that.

I am now in the final year of Games and Interaction towards Game Art/ (Techart) at the HKU. At the Deltion college Zwolle I have animation audiovisual vmbo level-4 abyss for this. This training focused on visual effects, video editing, 3D and 2D For me, Game Art is the communication between the player and the game mechanics. and the story you can tell, to inspire others.

When i was in primary school.

I have been told that I wanted to make games since second grade, but I think it really started after playing age of empires 1 and 2 and created my own maps and scenarios.

I first realised I wanted to work in the creative media and entertainment industry when I just graduated from middle school. Creating and consuming art had always been part of my life. The thought that I could possibly make a living by doing the things I love most is what fueled me to take the leap and pursue this as a career path!

When, I was around 15 I got my first concept art book. It was the first time I realized that concept art was a thing and honestly, it was love at first sight. From that moment on I kept drawing, designing and improving my skills to make that dream become reality.

When volunteering on a mod for Skyrim as a concept artist and city designer. I was studying Uran Planning and Design at the time, but I eventually quit that study to study Game Art instead.

Hii, I'm Cindy! A 25 years old game UI artist from the Netherlands. Currently I'm in my last year of HKU and taking the time to enhance my skills. I love to learn about everything from UI/UX to 3D modeling and VFX, although I've always felt like UI was the perfect fit for me.

I always had an interest in computers and art, but never really thought that art was viable as a career choice until I decided to study computer science after highschool. During my time there I discovered that there is a lot more you can do with art than just painting stern looking people with oils. After that I decided to brush up on my skills and apply for the HKU, and here we are.

When i made my first game

I've always loved art, and after starting the Game Art education at around 18, curiosity and drive grew even more

I have always had a passion for storytelling, however I was never sure about the medium I wanted to do that in. I always used to do traditional drawing and sculpting and eventually enrolled into the game-art study of the HKU as a 2d concept artist. Eventually halfway through my first year I got introduced to 3d and it was a match made in heaven for me.

When I realised that every game was made by a team and one of them being a concept artist. I always wanted to Focus on stylized art styles and giving designs real function. I didn't want to make just a pretty image, but a design with function!

I was about the age of 15/16 when knew I wanted to get into the game industry. Back then I was still finding my way through all the possibilities of what could be done and what I wanted to focus on. But my love for games and how they were made only kept growing. I've known what I want to do for a while now but i keep finding new things I'd like to explore.

I used to make and change games on the playground when I was 4 years old. When I was 17, I learned that creating entertaining games is some people's jobs.

I've always been a creative person, but it was in secondary school that I started to realise I wanted to do it for a living. Determined to make it work, I looked into countless art-related schools in the Netherlands and Belgium. Eventually I ended up at HKU University of the Arts Utrecht. I felt as if I had entered an entirely new world, but I also felt that I had found where I wanted to be.
