3D Animation Demoreel 2019 (Gelissa Loh)

Description: This is a compilation of some of my animation works that I've done. These range between individual assignments and shots that I've worked on for my film project. I've also created the Breakdown processes for each shot in this entry, please feel free to check them out!

Don't You Ever! Monologue Animation with Full Breakdown.

Description: This piece was one of the first acting animations that I did whilst studying 3D animation under Vincent Yu. I initially visualised a matriarch having a domestic dispute that would soon take an ugly turn when I first received the audio and the shot evolved from there.

Overall, this provided me a great learning experience into the world of acting and any comment and criticism is greatly appreciated!

Don't Get Ahead(butt) of Yourself! Animation with Full Breakdown.

Description: This shot was done as part of my short film project where the Antagonist of our film delivers a hardy message to our protagonist head-on. while searching for suitable reference for the headbutt action online, I wasn't able to find much that fitted the requirements I was looking for so the next best thing was to act it out myself! I wrapped an empty teddy bear skin around the hand of my teammate and proceeded to film myself headbutting it over and over until the impact and feel of it was to my satisfaction. I had a sore spot between my eyes for the next three days because of it haha! I also rigged the Antagonist as well!

Guided by Azarudeen Shanavas and Jacob Gardner.
Rigging (Antagonist), Camera Layout and Animation were done by me. Any comments and criticism is greatly appreciated!

Mind if I... Drop by? Animation with Full Breakdown.

Description: This shot was done as part of my short film project where the Antagonist of our film makes her first appearance. I was in charge of storyboarding the sequence of the antagonist's reveal and it went through 3 different versions before it was settled to ensure that the shot could bring out the creature-ness of the antagonist sufficiently enough. Inspiration was drawn from Until Dawn's Wendigos and the introduction of The Ice Cream Man from the movie 'Legion'. I also rigged the Antagonist as well!

Storyboard, Rigging, Camera Layout and Animation were done by me. Any comments and criticism is greatly appreciated!

Ultimate Attack! Animation with Full Breakdown.

Description: This shot was done as part of my short film project where the Protagonist, seeing an opportunity to emerge victorious, unleashes her secret weapon for the finishing blow. The biggest challenge for this shot was animating the mechanical wings because while it had to move in a way that was anatomically correct, it was limited by the fact that it was made of metal and wires. So there had to be a balancing act between maintaining the believabilty of the flight pattern whilst not breaking the structure and design of the wings itself. Overall, it was a fantastic opportunity for me to practice my creature animation skills!

Camera Layout and Animation were done by me. Any comments and criticism is greatly appreciated!
