Didi Rohaidi Animation Demoreel 2019

Hey there! Here's my Animation Graduate Reel 2019, containing all of my works that I did for the past 1 year 6 months! I had loads of fun (and suffering as well) doing all of these shots. There's a lot more that I want to learn about animation and I can't wait to work on different variety of shots! With every failure and mistakes that I did, there's an even stronger will from me to get better and succeed. With it, I hope I can keep on improving my animation quality and one day, I can look back to this reel to see on how much I've grown as an artist/animator! Hope you enjoy my reel and thank you!!

Pre-Wedding Jitters

This is one of my acting shot that I did during my school days! For this assignment, I wanted to challenge myself and create a character that is believable and relatable to the audience! When I first received the audio, I can visualize my female character to be someone who is facing the 'wedding-day' stress about being in the spotlight while her best friend is trying to console and ease her anxiety.

Special thanks to Vincent Yu, my animation lecturer, for guiding me and pushing my limits. Feedbacks and Critiques are welcome from all! Thank you and try to stay calm on your wedding day!!

Origin

When I was given my run to jump assignment, I was inspired by the scene in The Amazing Spider-Man when Peter Parker just got his Spiderman powers and was just discovering of what he can do with it. I stitched some video references together and even tried to video myself jumping to see what other small details that I can extract from my reference to push my animation quality.

This was one of my tougher assignment but I really learnt a lot from it as my animation lecturer, Vincent Yu, tried to push me to get more interesting and dynamic poses to sell the action. I had loads of fun doing it and hope you guys enjoy it too! Comments and feedbacks are welcome!! Thank you!

Morning Jog

When you're not the runner type, you animate your character to run for you hehe! For this assignment, I had to animate a run cycle and try to stitch it to another animation. It was a fun assignment as I managed to notice and learn a lot of running body mechanics.

Thanks to my animation lecturer, Vincent Yu, for pushing me to animate better and how to extract more 'juices' from my references! Feedbacks and critiques are welcome! Thank you!

The Final Stand

This was one of the shot that I did for my short film that my team and I did during our 6 months Film Festival project. I did everything from the storyboard, layout until the final animation itself. For the composition, I played with spacing to emphasize the balance of power between the 2 characters. It was an interesting experience trying to animate my characters fighting from an angle that I'm not used to but it was also one of my career goals to face and overcome different challenges and shots. This was also one of my first fighting body mechanics that I had to handle.

Special thanks to Jim Levasseur for the guidance on the animation layout as well as Jacob Gardner and Azarudeen Shanavas for the animation feedbacks! I hope I can improve more on doing fighting shots and feedbacks are appreciated! Thank you!
