Alfina The Dragon

I'd like to introduce Alfina the Dragon. She was a concept I worked on as a gift to someone before I even knew about The Rookies.

The idea first came to me when How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World (HTTYD) first came out. My girlfriend loves the franchise so much, and she was saddened it was ending. However, I wanted to give her a piece of that world.

Everyone in the series has a dragon for a companion, even the villain who doesn't even like dragons! So after brainstorming a little, I found out how to make her, her very own dragon! 

Everyone of us in our world has a companion of sorts much like the dragons in the movie, and no it's not our phones. Our vehicles! Just like the dragons, we name them, they get old, they take us from one place to the next, and most importantly we bond with them. So I decided to make her 2016 Tucson, Alfina, into a Dragon.

It was a passion project that just kept going. I took inspiration from the famous Triceratops for a head then looked at the crown of a Protoceratops, and finally  looked at predator dinosaurs to help build more dragonesque characteristics. Like the larger hands of a Raptor and the teeth of any predator.

The different colors were an artistic choice to make, however I'm proud of the final product, and all the practice that went into taking Alfina from a Tucson on 4 wheels to a dragon of the HTTYD universe.
