Warrior

I've always been interested in creating a warrior character, and this was my first experiment in this field. It was very interesting to test all the different types of workflows, from modeling tactical clothing or equipment to using various texturing techniques. I got a great learning experience that developed my sculpting, modeling, texturing and rendering skills. I've added a breakdown of the project below, so check it out if you're interested in learning more about my workflow behind creating it.

Amazing concept by: Oleg_ Ovigon                                                                                                     Full project on ArtStation: Warrior                                                                                                       Soft: ZBrush, Maya, Marvelous Designer, ZWrap, RizomUV, Substance 3D Painter, Arnold

Also below, I've shared with you one side project, The Witcher, that I've been working on as well.

Reference

In this project, I used Oleg_ Ovigon's amazing concept as a reference for military clothing and gear.

Sculpting & Modeling

The whole body and face of character were sculpted in ZBrush. The overall was created in Marvelous Designer. Than I created shoes and some garments in ZBrush. After that, I created most of the equipment and some of the clothes in Maya. And, in the end, the final detailing of all this was done in ZBrush.

Wireframe

When the sculpting of the body and face was finished, I used the ZWrap tool to apply a retopologized body mesh from the 3D Scan Store. The wireframes of some of the clothes, shoes, equipment and accessories were made during their modeling in Maya.

UV mapping

UV maps were compiled in RizomUV and were created nine 4K texture sets.

Baking & Texturing

The character was baked and textured in Substance 3D Painter, in the process of which both procedural tools and brush painting were used.

Shading & Rendering

All shaders were created and the character was rendered in Arnold Renderer. During the setup process, I experimented with various settings for the scene, HDRI, camera and lighting until I got the desired result.

Turntable

The Witcher (Henry Cavill) | Netflix Series | Portrait

Portrait of Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia from Netflix series «The Witcher» was my first experiment in getting a likeness of a character, as well as creating my first clothes in Marvelouse Designer, as well as creating my first hair in XGen.

Full project on ArtStation: The Witcher                                                                                                    Soft: ZBrush, Maya, XGen, Marvelous Designer, RizomUV, ZWrap, Substance 3D Painter, Arnold

In the end, I would like to thank you for taking the time to look at my works and read about my experience of creating them.
