Jonah Ko 2024: Student Work
These are some of the highlights of the works I did at Ringling College of Art and Design as a Game Art student, containing my senior thesis, biome project, and vehicle project.
Hi, my name is Jonah Ko and I'm a 3D environment artist graduating Ringling College of Art and Design as a Game Art major. This past 4 years, I've worked on various projects in this major, learning different aspects of game development while focusing on 3D environment art. I'm happy to share some of the works I did so far. Enjoy!
2023/2024 Senior Thesis: Moorish Architecture-inspired Courtyard
This is my playable senior thesis, Against God's Will. The game takes place in a privately owned institution called the Star Prayers, which is inspired by Moorish architectures from 10th to 14th centuries.
My focus here was to create a strong portfolio piece that showcases variety of skillsets as a 3D environment artist, including ornate modkits, tiling textures, structure, composition, lighting, and foliage.

2021 Sophomore Vehicle Project: 2017 Mercedes-AMG GT R
Tasked with creating a 1:1 3D replica of a vehicle of my choice, with a limited triangle count (125k) and materials, all within an 8-week deadline. The textures were produced using a combination of Photoshop, Substance 3D Painter, and Unreal Engine materials. The total triangle count came to 124,733.

2022 Junior Biome Project: Bald Cypress Swamp
A project dedicated to creating a visually sophisticated biome, with focus on creating environmental assets and foliage.
This is a playable Bald Swamp environment based on swamps in Louisiana. You play as an alcoholic manatee, Atee-man, to navigate through the trail and kick the foolish human trespassers out of your private swamp! All assets and textures were created by me and assembled in Unreal Engine 4.
Player character: Atee-man, the "GreenNeck" Manatee
