I've been an avid gamer and artist all my life and it's my dream to be part of a team for games and films for a living! I'm a self taught artist looking to break into the industry! 5 words that best describe me are: Driven, Persistent, Open-Minded, Resourceful and Fun!

Pinky Debut! - Well Deserved Break [Fanart]

For this piece I wanted to express 3 things (Cute, Playful and Desserts!) within the image while tying in the most unique game design aspect for the game Hyper Universe (a 2D side scroll MOBA) which were interacting with ladders and jump pads (they allowed you to go up and down different level depths of the map (Top, Middle, and Bottom)!

I wanted the image to target the player-base who already played the game and knew the general mechanics.

Throughout the game you'll be climbing ladders, using the jump pads and chasing enemies constantly nonstop and I wanted to capture an ironic moment where one of the characters in the game, Pinky, is taking a break from all that. She plops down on the ground while her teammates and enemies are fighting and whips out her favorite desserts to eat as a reward!

Shardbound - An Orison of Light [Fanart]

For this piece I wanted to showcase a unit called Vigil Keeper from the Kickstarter game ShardBound

I wanted the image to target the player-base who already played the game and knew the characters but also bring in new audiences who want to know what may happen next! I wanted to find that balance between calmness and tension for that effect. Unbeknownst to the Vigil Keeper (center figure) who is calm and confident attempting to channel her abilities focusing towards the character in the foreground a Penumbran Assassin appears behind her ready and winding up for a lethal blow!

The goal was to present my knowledge of the units within the game as well as translating the skillset of the particular units into a cinematic vis dev shot for illustration that could potentially be used for marketing purposes or an idea for splash art in game.

Graves - Concept Sheet

The goal with this was to create my own character design based off of the world building (lore) made within Shardbound.

This character is a Lapora ( a furry race within the world of Shardbound). This particular lapora lost their arm in a battle so he augmented himself with his cultures dimensional technology that manipulates time and space to bring forth ethereal arms to fight with!

Heroes & Villains! : Shopping gone wrong!

I did this piece for an art contest. It was a lot of fun to learn and try new workflows!

The goal was to design a hero or villain and showcase a distinct power that was obvious to the viewer. The art direction I wanted to go for was a comic book stylized semi-realism look for this piece.

I started with a general cliff-notes backstory (origin) to try to brainstorm ideas to solve what era, setting and ambiance while trying to find and explore his/her personality as I design what the character will look like. I'm thinking about the overall silhouette and functionality of the clothing and how they would manifest their powers bouncing back and forth trying to find a good balance of what will work that would best represent the character. I gave myself a limit of a week to figure out the character and provide the orthographic so I could spend 1.5 weeks to finish out the illustration.

I came up with quick thumbnail mock ups and utilized Daz 3D to work out the general scene. Afterwards I drew over, experimented with the lighting I wanted and rendered at the end. With what I know now there are definitely a lot of things I would change in the execution from 3D to 2D but am happy that I have another tool under my belt to utilize to create with in the future!

Circuits & Shields - Hero Lineup

I'm part of a project of 10 people creating a new way to play a MOBA adding innovative design and building upon a lot of great ideas based off of a lot of successful titles out there in the genre and building upon that. 

I was assigned to work on creating a cohesive and usable marketing piece with the existing assets given (example shown below) to composite and over paint to match the set art direction more while fixing and salvaging the environment artists background image and enhancing/improving the block-out characters from our 3D modeler to increase the overall quality of the image.

tl dr : what I did was a lot of overpainting and major compositing of the models and environment given to me

Lucan Concept Sheet - An Unforgettable Lesson

One of my earlier pieces when I was starting concept design. This taught me one of the most valuable lessons when doing concept art. Care what you do, be psyched and amp'd about the work you might be doing but never be afraid to scrap it and start over.

For this I was working with a game designer and writer. We did a mock up collaboration like we were working in a studio on a MOBA. We did our bluesky/whiteboard phase and bounced back ideas to eventually tie the design, story and art together. 3/4 way through the art process as we went through iterations they decided that they wanted to change direction to a more religious battle-mage (mix of cloth and armor vibe). My heart sunk at first because of all the progress that I made but ultimately this is for the love of development. Sometimes these things might happen. We wanted to do the character justice as we try to find the right creation in the endless void of our thoughts so sometimes you have to let things go to find the right answer.

Deformers - Cosmetic Ideas [Fanart]

Creations I made based off a game called Deformers by Ready at Dawn studios. The sillhouettes are based off of a ball so it was fairly straightforward to design for.

 The goal was to think about cool cosmetics that players would like and possibly buy within the game!
