Witchcrafted - Blender Short

Howdy! My name is Tarnmon, also known as Gundam. This animation marks my debut in the world of short films. As horror is my favorite movie genre, I drew inspiration from my favorite genre to create this project. While the film is my original idea and story, it also incorporates elements that pay homage to 80s - 90s horror films.

I've thoroughly enjoyed the process of bringing this vision to life!

Witchcrafted is a short film about Evelyn, a first-year witch, who eagerly enters a new magical college, with anticipation of meeting new friends and touring the campus. However, what she envisions may not unfold exactly as she expects.

Pre Production

I began by gathering my ideas, drawing from what attracts me to the horror genre. Next, I developed a treatment for the story and wrote the script. From there, I created concept art and invited my friend to create a storyboarded for me to bring the narrative to life visually.

Production Breakdown

Character

Initially, I aimed to create characters with distinct shapes for the short film. However, considering that I was working on this project alone, I decided to give the characters similar features to streamline the processe

Scene

Next, I focused on creating the scenes, the location of the short film "Rauthworths College." I aimed to maintain a consistent style throughout, characterized by overall yellow tints.

Solid and Render View

During the rigging process, I encountered recurring issues with the skirt. Initially, I relied solely on cloth simulation for the skirt. However, in certain scenes, achieving satisfactory results proved challenging to control. Consequently, I opted to add skirt bones for better control in specific scenes.

Props

Then I continued by creating props for the animation short, 32 props in total. Some required rigging for animation and deformation, such as the double-barrel shotgun and fire axe.

Rubber Halloween Mask

The rubber Halloween masks worn by the seniors in the ceremony, some of them are inspired by the ones seen in horror movies like Hausu (1977) and Evil Spawn (1987).

I continue in post-production by editing and color grading, as well as adding sound effects.
