Synopsis

A newly wed groom attempts to rescue his wife out from the snow after an avalanche interrupts their wedding.

Background Story

Back then, our story was originally an animatic short film project by our Illustration Team which was supposed to be an 8 minute duration film. It was a story of a lovey-dovey mongolian couple that tragically had to separate because of a sudden avalanche that destroy the whole village. But through some considerations and discussions, we cut down the duration of the film and change the whole story where they had experienced the avalanche during the wedding unexpectedly.

Storyboard & Animatic

Concept

We went for a realistic approach for our art direction and we referenced the skin textures from Love, Death & Robots S3 : Jibaro. Since we finished the concept of our story earlier as it is a finalized concept of our Illustration Collaborative Project, we only had to touch up the story to implement the idea of a flashback to past and present story of a lovely mongolian wedding that turns out to a surprisingly tragic avalanche incident. However, at the final phase we somehow go for a bit of change in art direction into a semi-realistic stylized character.

Environment

Vow Cinematic has a total of 2 environments. The Interior which is the Church contains their Goddess Statue Ihrin, Stained Glass, and its unique Mongolian Roof Design. Meanwhile, The Exterior is the Church after the avalanche occured with all of the broken parts of the church remaining there.
