I am happy to present the Concept Art of my final degree character at ESAT!

This is LIV, a character designed for Born To Rise as an enemy, later used as playable character in Tower Cycle (spin-off of Born To Rise). This bird enemy was designed with the premise that it must attack the player with its beak, so the beak was the main focus and in the background there should be the wings that gave it momentum. In addition, the aesthetic proposed by the art department was Tech-Golem.

The creation of Liv began with character exploration with the sole premise of ''must fly'' with which I played with a couple of ideas: chimeras and fairies. (gray sketch column)

After the first meeting with the design department, I was told the importance of the beak for the enemy's attack, so I took a different approach in character exploration: making more minimalist silhouettes where I could play between shapes of birds, chimeras and fairies all inspired by arrowheads.

During the process, the Art department decided to detail the Tech-Golem theme with magical stones as the core and the lore need for evolutionary lines between the enemies. Therefore, I worked hand in hand on the design with the partner who made the second flying enemy to combine our designs and reach a final silhouette which quickly led to the different B/W thumbnails.

In these thumbnails I combined various bodies, tails, beaks and wings until reaching the final design.

During the color tests I had two problems: the color variety in the design contrasted too much with that of the rest of the enemies with a more monochrome gray palette and my character's magic stone was going to change between red (enemy bird A) and green (enemy bird B) so the colors had to combine with both red and green.

While the color was agreed upon from the Art department, I continued working on the Turn Arround to prepare the design for 3D modeling.

Finally the Final ConceptArt was approved for Born to Rise! the game is available on Steam (https://store.steampowered.com/app/2432460/Born_to_Rise/) Here's the trailer below.

Liv was also used in Tower Cycle, my personal final year project, along with props and materials unique to the project. Tower Cycle was just a visual demo of a small level with the intention of presenting it as a playable game in the first stage of development.

Thanks for looking at my entry. Soon I will publish the entry with Liv's 3D modeling.
