I tried to follow the lessons and challenged myself to only work in Substance Painter. It's so much fun to play with the non-destructive workflow! I am going to add more details and love to my little one.

Introduction

Hello there! Today, I'm excited to share the concept of my project for Meet Mat 3: Meet Leather Pup Bot Mat!

It's a vintage pup bot covered in leather and adorned with a holiday sweater and hat. This little robot has been through a lot, with its right leg damaged and revealing the intricate machinery inside. It's on a mission to find a way to fix its leg; otherwise, its true identity might be exposed soon...

Concept

At first, I struggled for weeks to come up with an idea. One day, while cleaning my computer, I stumbled upon a screenshot I had saved earlier—an adorable puppy Claude bag from Kate Spade. This discovery sparked inspiration for creating a leather dog adorned with a sweater.

The concept of incorporating a robot emerged as I delved into collecting leather references. Simultaneously, I explored various pet sweaters to decide on the pattern for my Mat.

I separated my references into three parts, following Pablo's approach as demonstrated in the Mat Masterclass on YouTube. In the material section, I concentrated on searching for vintage leather, a skill I aimed to practice in this project. I took pleasure in meticulously examining the details of the materials. Additionally, I gathered pictures of old sweaters to complement the vintage leather theme.

I selected certain scenes from Pixar as my style references. My aim is to achieve a reasonable and simplified result.
