Meet The Clicker

I've chosen to do a fan art for the last of us, so my Meet Mat will be inspired by a Cliker.

05 : Final

18/01/2024 : Thanks to the extra time I was able to upgraded my textures and rework the contrasts, as I found my previous results too flat.

I took the opportunity to add a belt to make a clearer visual separation between the pants and the skin. The concrete base seemed rather bland to me, so I tried wood and found it much better.

To create an orange light coming from the right, i used a baked light filter in emissive mode.

For that, I created a fill layer in pathrough mode, which i use to retrieve information from my meet mat, and then a fill layer on top, which i use to manage this light.

04 : First Render

05/01/2024 : I've never rendered on Substance Painter before, so it's a bit of a discovery for me and I'm a bit short of time. But I'm happy with my Meet Mat and I've done everything I wanted to do.

03 : Texturing

Working steps

16/01/2024 : Once I'd "finished", I tried to improve the overall effect by changing colors and adding contrast. I also experimented a lot with light and HDRI, to see what would work best.

Here are a few of my tests.

03/01/2024 : I've finished the procedural part. I'll still have to do some adjusment for the color and then I will do the base and the pants, then a bit of paint to add details.

Flesh Texture

One of the most important texture for my project is the flesh texture. Here is how I made it !

Denim texture

In green, it's how I made the denim and in blue, the holes. The holes are entirely procedural.

02 : Displacement

01/12/2024 : And here's the result with the final displacement maps !

For the displacement maps, I first imported Meet Mat into Zbrush to be able to sculpt the mushrooms and some large details. I then imported the maps into the painter file and cleaned up any bugs with a mask paint. Then, when texturing, I added details with displacement and height.

01/12/2023 : I'm not used to using displacement so it took me a few tries to be satisfied. Now that I'm familiar with it, I'll be able to continue.

01 : Concept

22/11/2023 : I've just finished the research phase and the sketches. I've chosen to do some fan art for the last of us, so my Meet Mat will be a Cliker. I had to simplify the Clicker to keep Meet Mat recognizable.
