Round of applause for our sponsors

This project was the major project for my World Building class last year at CDW Studios.

The projects main focus was teaching how to create modular assets in Unreal Engine for environment design.

I created the models in Maya and brought them into UE4 for rendering. I used Substance Painter and Quixel Mixer for textures, and utilized prop, decal and foliage assets from the Quixel Megascans library to help with set dressing and detailing. I primarily used vertex painting and decals as my main way of breaking up the tiling and give variance to certain materials.

Assets

All the large scale objects in the scene were made by me in Maya.  Most of my assets used tileable textures from the Quixel Megascans library, however, i did use Substance Painter to make custom textures for several of my props.

Based off of a vintage Italian postbox, I modeled this Mailbox in Maya, and textured and rendered in Substance Painter. This was a fun to learn and a good introduction to learning how to do a High-Poly to Low-Poly substance painter workflow.

Epilogue

Obviously still lots of flaws, but seeing how this was pretty much my first time using most of these programs I think this is a pretty good attempt. I've learnt a lot during this project and im looking forward to learning more seeing how much better I can make my next one.

Thanks for having a look at my work!
