During the past academic year, I have been learning and applying new knowledge to my personal production pipeline and refining my skills as a character concept artist. By using new techniques in Photoshop and incorporating 3D production through the use of Maya, Substance, ZBrush, and Unreal Engine, I have expanded my skills and honed my craft. Here are the fruits of my labor.

This creature I designed went through several steps to achieve the final full-body concept. I first did some sketches and produced the head concept and the ideas for the body. After that, I developed a 3D model in ZBrush, which I textured and brought into Unreal to do some lighting passes. The screenshot above was taken and painted over to produce the final 2D full-body concept.

Berede and Iris were a couple of character concepts that I did for personal projects. The process for these images included sketches, which were used to develop the final concepts. Berede was an alien designed to climb trees quickly and safely with her extra arms. Iris was a character developed for a game that explored color theory.

This sword, based off a scimitar, was developed in a similar way to the ghoul. I started with a 2D concept, then I developed a 3D model, textured it and rendered it in Unreal Engine 4.
