This was a group project, we were a team of 3 people working on this project, and each of us was assigned one area of the hotel. I was assigned to design and visualize the bedroom.
The concept was to create a unique experience for the guests, decided to take inspiration from the nature and culture of Nairobi, but at the same time make it modern and fun.
BUILDING & LOCATION
Found an existing building located on MOI AVENUE 8 Nairobi, Kenya. This became the base building, inspiration, and location for the hotel.
MOODBOARD - Bedroom
Nairobi is well known for its bold, colorful, and creative patterns, which were taken to account while creating the interior of the hotel. The color palette was mainly inspired by the nature such as warm and earthly colors. To make it more fun and youthful, sky blue and forest green were added.
For the interior, I used natural materials like wood and concrete. Also, did some research and took some inspirations from the local Maasai markets, and decorated the interior with some handmade plate, bold patterns, and rattan lamp.
When designing the bedroom, the goal was to give my visitors a calm, welcoming, and warm feeling when they walk into the room. During this process, I experimented with different color combinations, prints on the bedsheet, and different materials.
