Mr Media

by Deepestblue on 14 May 2021 for Rookie Awards 2021

It’s fascinating how media can control our perceptions of reality. We might think that we have free will. However, our thought processes are heavily influenced by what we consume through the media every day. The boundaries of reality and fiction get blurred through the eye of the press.

Mr Media - music video

Over two years, I have discovered the possibilities of 3D art and audio editing. I enjoy the complex processes of creating eyecatching visuals digitally and making animations react to audio. I am drawn to the unjust in the World and how biased and easily influenced society can be. It’s fascinating how media can control our preferences and habits, what we believe in and how we react to this World. We might think that we have free will. However, our thought processes are heavily influenced by what we consume through the media every day. The boundaries of reality and fiction get blurred through the eye of the press.

Mr Media is an exploration of those boundaries. The camera takes us through the fields of falling bullets and coins, then merging the same scenes into distorted screens. The footages of war and money can be witnessed on the screens decorating the walls in a seemingly endless hallway. The screens flicker, so does the real footage. What is real and what is not? The overweight character with golden skin and a monitor as its head translate the idea of being watched by the government. However, the World around and within is empty, dark and directionless. The system is not working; it’s full of glitches and errors. The gold gears stop, start and change direction just like the governments and economies do in the current times.
