COMMERCIAL RETAIL
To design a commercial retail space for Le Labo which is an Estee Lauder perfume brand based in New York. In their labs, every fragrance is freshly hand-blended and each label is personalized. The purpose of the retail space is to introduce hand-formulated scents that evoke memories to Malaysians.
WABI-SABI
The retail area features a Japanese style interior which is inspired by their brand's philosophy, called wabi-sabi - the Japanese aesthetic concept of beauty in imperfection, impermanence, roughness and simplicity. The whole space is torn apart by an invisible traction force. When the walls are torn up and down, a dimensional space is formed in the middle, which is a special multi-dimensional space. When the wall connecting the ceiling and the floor cracks, the debris collapses, another different world will display in slowly in orderly, as like this is a cracked world of ruins, it also the intersection point between space to space.
