Creation of a perfume named Hespérides

As part of my studies, we had to create packaging for a new eau de parfum called Hespérides. Inspired by the nymphs of Greek mythology, the perfume's scents are based on citrus fragrances such as citrus, bergamot and jasmine.

After analyzing references from antiquity and the Renaissance, as well as current works, I developed my axis around a contemporary reappropriation of the myth.

For this, I selected a fragment of Urs Fischer's sculpture Untitled. The work is a perfect replica of Giambologna's Rape of the Sabine women, a sculpture emblematic of Florentine Mannerism. But Urs Fischer reproduces it in wax: for the duration of the exhibition, the sculpture melts as the days go by. He explores notions of destructive beauty and questions the notion of a work's durability. 

Thus, my principle is based on a contemporary work, which quotes a Renaissance work inspired by Greek mythology. To modify it, I used digital techniques to alter saturation, add blur and change colors, thus creating an image with several nuances. These colors evoke water, fragrances such as the citrus in our eau de parfum, and the world of the Garden of the Hesperides.

This leaves the viewer with the interpretation of an idealization of the Hesperides myth, and of the emotion that the scent of our perfume can produce. In particular, I evoke the evolution of perfume as it changes in contact with our skin and over the course of the day, creating different inner and outer packaging.I also chose Forma, a linear typography to emphasize the contemporary aspect of the fragrance.
