My first project done at SkyupAcademy, the creation of an original character inspired by European mythology, from concept idea on paper pass to digital sculpt with Zbrush and final render with V-ray in Maya.

Hi everyone, this is my project based on the mythical creature of Cockatrice, I called my character Geswera and its history begins with sketches and evolves up to the final renderings, passing between the creation of the maquette and digital sculpture!

Let's start with the final render and then I'll show you how I got here.

The references accompanied me along the way, I tried to create a dangerous creature but with a funny and bizarre look, he has deadly features but he has the brain of a chicken!

Sketches and T-Pose for the character

Next I create the clay maquette of Geswera, I changed the pose to make the model more balanced but I was forced to add a support rock when assembling the various body parts

After creating the maquette with clay, the character improved its shape but it is only thanks to the digital sculpting in Zbrush that it reached its peak, proud of a dynamic pose that sees Geswera falling but which highlights every part of my concept!

Below are the steps of my sculpture, the neck was added only when it was necessary to break the symmetry

After completing the sculpting I imported the model into Autodesk Maya to render with V-ray, and only after having defined the best lighting set-up for my project.

This is the reference that guided me in choosing the lights

And finally my project ends with the addition of name and logo to the final images
