THE GLASS MUSHROOM

‘If you could describe yourself as an object – what would it be? How would you visualize it?’

Being confronted with this question, I found myself intrigued by the unsolvability of this challenging task. As I came to realize that no one would be able to describe oneself in just one object due to the complexity of existence, I still ended up with a convincing and surprisingly accurate manifestation of myself.

I would describe me and myself as a network that grows and has been growing from asking questions constantly and unapologetically. This curiosity guided me through various topics, industries, and most importantly, experiences. I have experienced solving formulas of theoretical physics as well as making the last stitches of a new dress just before the Paris fashion week. I have experienced giving up myself as a volunteer in a hospital during an unprecedented pandemic, as well as reimagining myself by designing digital art in the isolation of a seemingly never-ending lockdown. In the fast paced fields of fashion and at the hospital I was able to prove myself as an absolute teamplayer thriving under pressure.

All those chapters could be symbolized as trees of experiential and factual knowledge with individual root systems. Like the mushroom that connects these different root Systems, I see myself as a facilitator and a connector of seemingly unrelated topics. My role is to ease the flow of abstract ideas, create spaces for better communication and pin down the essential aspects of overarching concepts.

The spores, the visible manifestations of this hidden network, symbolize far-reaching ideas that are carried by a fresh breeze of openness toward new experiences.
